Rio Grande to Puerto Almanza

Off again on the Patagonia steppes.
…. which soon becomes forested and more hilly
To arrive in Tolhuin…
alongside Lago Fagnano. The lake is 61 miles long.
There we stayed at a humble cabana.
Afterwards we’re off to camp by Lago Escondido
to then cross over the Andes again (that’s Lago Escondido below where we climbed from)
passing by Mt. Cornu, the tallest Andean peak in Tierra del Fuego at 4900 feet (that’s our bikes in the corner).
…where we finally get to Puerto Almanza! We catch the first view of the Beagle Channel, the southernmost body of water we’ll reach.

The front crab legs are Centolla, Chilean King Crab found in these waters.

Then we’re off to do the ultimate aim of the adventure: Camp at the southern most area of Tierra del Fuego that a bike can reach, facing southward over the Beagle Channel.

We’re the blue dot at the bottom.
… With a rainbow to boot.
… complete with a scene of a ship reminiscent of the explorers that came through here.

Soon we’ll be off to Ushuaia where we’ll be wrapping up the adventure and getting ready to head home.
