February 1 marked a major day for us. We reached the end of the Carretera Austral, the 800+ mile road carved into the Southern Chile mountains to tie that wilderness area to the major population areas in central Chile.

Starting in the town of Puerto Montt on December 29, we pedaled 819 miles to reach the other end. And we finally got there.

The Carretera was Leg 2 of our journey south ( to manage the ride south, the journey was divided into 3 legs), and– Now We Are Done!!

For the next three days, we will catch our breath, take a good rest, and prepare for the next and final leg of our journey. Destination? The farthest south a bicycle can go!

Congratulations 🎈 we celebrate with you all! Blessings
Thanks David and Elaine. I wished you were riding in with us, but I know you have your own reasons for going in a different direction. Best of luck.
